Fifty Shades of Grey - E.L. James
Ok, so I've been wanting to read this book for ages due to all the hype surrounding it. Anyway, I don't know why, but I've been postponing getting a copy for a long time, maybe it was my subconscious, warning me that this was just another piece of fluff.
So eventually I decided on just getting the e-book instead, so it wouldn't be a waste of space if it turned out to be bad. I started reading it late in the evening, and just couldn't stop till I completed it at around 5.30 AM! I admit it is a very gripping book, if anything (I'm writing this review while on a 10 min break from its sequel!).
I mean seeing that is started of as a piece of Twilight fanfic, the author's done a decent job. Though at risk of stating the obvious I must mention that the story is very very similar to that of Twilight; Poor, innocent self deprecating girl, meets ridiculously rich, mysterious, handsome man with a deep dark secret.
The writing is very descriptive, every moment they spend together (and apart, but mostly together), is recounted in great detail. It gets tiresome after a while. They do the nasty, I get it! You don't have to describe each and every time, in such detail. I mean I would have preferred to know more about Ana's childhood or her friends or something about Christian!
That said, I still am gonna read the sequels (I am a sucker for love stories, kinky included), as I have a gut feeling that this is gonna end well, and who doesn't like a happy ending!
